The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards 2020 (TV 2020)

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It recognized the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from October 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019. Nominations were announced in all 84 categories by Gayle King, Alicia Keys and Bebe Rexha on the set of CBS This Morning on November 20, 2019. Keys hosted the ceremony, having hosted the previous year's ceremony as well. Lizzo received the most nominations of any artist with eight, followed by Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X with six each. Eilish and her brother Finneas received the most awards, with five wins each. Upon this, she became the first artist to win Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist in the same year since Christopher Cross in 1981. Aerosmith was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year two nights prior to the telecast. This was set to be the first edition of the Grammy Awards that the new Recording Academy President Deborah Dugan would have presided over; however, she was relieved of her duties as President and CEO and placed on administrative leave from the organization on January 16, 2020. Recording Academy Chairman Harvey Mason Jr. took over as interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Mason presided over the ceremony instead of Dugan. The ceremony was held at the Staples Center on the same day as the death of basketball player Kobe Bryant, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers – the arena is the team's home venue. Several tributes to Bryant were included in the ceremony, including a performance of "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" by host Alicia Keys and Boyz II Men, while Lil Nas X, Lizzo and DJ Khaled all incorporated tributes to Bryant into their performances.

Victoria's Secret uses the show to promote and market its goods in high-profile settings. The show features some of the world's leading fashion models such as current Victoria's Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson, Karlie Kloss, Behati Prinsloo and Elsa Hosk as the newest Angel. The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards were held on August 28, 2016 at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. Adele's "Hello" was the most nominated video with seven categories. Beyoncé led the nominations with a total of eleven, followed by Adele, who had eight. Rihanna received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award after performing several medley numbers during the ceremony. Britney Spears marked her first performance at the awards show since the heavily-criticized 2007 show nine years prior. Beyoncé won eight awards thus beating Madonna for the most moon men awarded to one artist with twenty four. The ceremony was shown on multiple Viacom cable networks and through smart TV and mobile devices which allow access to MTV's TV Everywhere-authenticated live stream within their app (dependent upon provider), along with MTV's website.

The show was moved to January to avoid competing against the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The eligibility period for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards was October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013. The nominations were announced on December 6, 2013 during a live televised concert on CBS, The Grammy Nominations Concert Live – Countdown to Music's Biggest Night. Jay-Z received the most nominations with nine. Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Pharrell Williams all got seven nominations. Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams were nominated twice for both Album of the Year and Record of the Year. Sound engineer Bob Ludwig received the most nominations by a non-performing artist, with five. At the awards ceremony on 26 January, Daft Punk won five awards including album of the year, while Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won four trophies and led an industry show of support for gay marriage. Carole King was honored as MusiCares Person of the Year on January 24, two days prior to the awards ceremony. On June 4, 2013, the Recording Academy approved a number of changes recommended by its Awards & Nominations Committee: A new category for Best American Song has been added to the American Music field. It is a songwriter's award, which will encompass all the subgenres in this field such as Americana, bluegrass, blues, folk and regional roots music. The Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category will be renamed Best Metal Performance and becomes a stand-alone category. Hard rock performances will now be screened in the Best Rock Performance category. The Music Video field will become the Best Music Video/Film field. Its two categories will be renamed: Best Short Form Music Video will now be known as Best Music Video and Best Long Form Music Video will change into Best Music Film. These changes bring the total number of categories at the 2014 Grammy Awards to 82, up from 81 at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
