Sting: The Last Ship – Live at the Public Theater (2014)

Cherrytree/Interscope A&M Records/Universal Music is pleased to announce the release of The Last Ship – Live At The Public Theater on DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats on September 26th. Featuring songs from Sting's latest album and forthcoming Broadway musical of the same name, the DVD and Blu-ray captures Sting in an intimate evening of music and storytelling filmed on his birthday, during a run of 10 benefit concerts performed at The Public Theater in New York City. For The Last Ship – Live At The Public Theater performance, Sting is joined by a 14-piece band, many of whom also hail from the region, including actor and singer Jimmy Nail, who appears in the upcoming stage production, as well as Kathryn Tickell on violin and Northumbrian pipes, Peter Tickell on violin and mandolin, Julian Sutton on the melodeon, and vocalists The Wilson Family. Also featured is Musical Director, Rob Mathes on acoustic guitar, piano and keyboards, and background vocals. Against a backdrop of evocative visual projections, this captivating live performance takes viewers on a journey of love, loss, redemption, and self-discovery, offering an inside look at the story behind The Last Ship. Inspired by his childhood experiences, the musical The Last Ship is set in the seafaring community of Wallsend in the North East of England where Sting was born and raised. With music and lyrics by Sting and book by Tony Award-winner John Logan and Pulitzer Prize-winner Brian Yorkey, previews begin on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre on September 29th, prior to opening night on October 26th. Produced by Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker, The Last Ship is directed by Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello and choreographed by Olivier Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Steven Hoggett.

Yuki Hirano (Shota Sometani) fails his college entrance exam, but he's not all that worried about it. As a slacker, he figures he can take it easy for a year and maybe re-take the test. His girlfriend Reina though decides to move on without him. Later, Yuki notices a flyer. There's a pretty girl (Masami Nagasawa) on the cover with the caption "Come Work With Us." Yuki decides to take up the offer. He'll have to travel to a small remote town, that doesn't even have cell phone coverage, and take training classes for 30 days. If all goes well, he'll work as a trainee forester for one year in a even more remote mountain area. Can Yuki ever hope to survive his new wood job!?!?
