Adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel, which is set in the late 1960s and tells the story of twin sisters Olanna and Kainene who have arrived back home in Nigeria, having finished their studies in England. While Olanna moves in with her boyfriend, professor Odenigbo, and his young houseboy Ugwu, Kainene finds her feet as a businesswoman and becomes involved with British writer Richard. When the Nigerian Civil War breaks out, however, the sisters' lives are changed forever.
