Tom Sawyer (2011)
Adventure | Family
The traditional and widely read Mark Twain tale of two boys, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, is given a refreshing revitalisation by noted German filmmaker Hermine Huntgeburth ("Die weiße Masai"). Beautifully shot in both Germany and Rumania, this timeless adventure story about children’s conflict with adults and the cultural tensions existing at the time make for an enjoyable film. Notable in the cast are Heike Makatsch and Benno Fürmann (the latter as an American Indian) in this delightfully distinctive German vision of the story.
