A man about to become a grandfather is looking for a new girlfriend in this warm comedy from director Josef Fares. Aziz (Jan Fares) is a middle aged Middle Eastern expatriate living in Sweden. Aziz is a happy guy, and not without reason — he likes his job, he has good friends, and his son and daughter-in-law are soon to make him a grandfather. When Aziz isn't keeping tabs on his imminent grandchild, he gives advice to two of his pals from work — Jorgen, who thinks his wife might be cheating on him with a handsome building contractor, and Juan, a local Don Juan who is upset over the failing health of his dog. Aziz's wife died years ago, and his daughter has decided it's time he had a woman in his life again; on her urgings, he begins dating again, and calls on Jorgen and Juan for advice on wooing the ladies after years out of practice. But what Aziz doesn't know is his daughter isn't just concerned about his welfare — it turns out that she hasn't been able to conceive after telling him she was going to be a mother, and as she awaits a baby that she and her husband will adopt, they try to keep up the pretense that they're having a child of their own. Farsan (aka Father) was an official selection at the 2010 Traverse City Film Festival.
