Allan is a married father of three whose sex life takes another hit when his wife can no longer take the pill. He soon finds himself with an appointment for a vasectomy and a nagging identity crisis. Although he is by all reasonable accounts a good, responsible man, the thought of getting "fixed" drives him to lose himself to an action-packed midlife crisis along with his best friends. Allan will refuse to grow up anymore.

Hit man Tommy Spinelli (Joe Pesci) has twenty-four hours to deliver a bag of eight "former associates" to an angry mob boss in San Diego. But when a fellow traveler, Charlie (Andy Comeau), mistakenly takes the bag, the heads go to Baja…and Tommy just goes ballistic! While the hit man desperately tries to find Charlie, Charlie desperately tries to find a way to get the bag's horrific contents back across the border. Who's gonna wind up with the heads? High school senior Shirley works as a babysitter to save money for college. She has a serious crush on Michael, father of two of her regular charges. One night, Michael and Shirley share a forbidden kiss, and he gives her a nice bonus on top of her regular babysitting fee. After Michael's married buddies find out and want in on the babysitter action, Shirley becomes a high-school madam, arranging dates between her girlfriends and the upstanding family men of their neighborhood with her trusty black book. An innocent flirtation soon spirals into an affair that causes everyone involved to lose more than they bargained for.

Still reeling from a rocky divorce and the recent death of her father, Clair Defina, a 33 year-old New York writer, needs a change. Her best friend, Isolda, suggests they drive up the coast of Maine to the remote northern region where Claire spent her early childhood. Clair and her father left when she was six, following the tragic death of her mother in a fire, and she hasn't returned since. Arriving in the quaint but dilapidated seaside town of Edgeport, Clair meets an eclectic group of locals, many of whom once lived on a nearby commune with her parents in the 1970s. Over the next 48 hours, Clair must deal with an increasingly dangerous present while delving into the murky past.
