Jasna is a teenage girl living in the poor suburbs in the south of Belgrade, Serbia. She likes to record everything around her using a mobile phone camera. She is making videos of herself, her school friends, family and Djole – the boy of her dreams. Her family is a mess: father is terminally ill and mother is barely coping. That's why she is spending more and more time hanging out with her school friends, partying and drinking. At one of the parties, she finally starts a conversation with Djole and later they develop an intense sexual relationship. When he realizes that she will do anything to be close to him, Djole starts using her as a sexual object. Jasna starts to experiment with drugs and to skip school. Her life is getting out of control and she needs Djole to accept and reciprocate her affections.

After three years a sailor Aleksei (Aleksei Chadov) comes back from the Black Sea Fleet to Moscow for a meeting with his waiting girlfriend (Maria Kurkova) and old classmates. Unfortunately, he finds out that his girlfriend is already married and has a child, and decides to spend the remaining time in the restaurant with friends: a son of an oligarch Konstantin (Konstantin Kryukov), beginner actor Artur (Artur Smolyaninov) and hip-hop artist Timati. When their lunch is coming to the end, it appears that no one has money to pay the bill, except Konstantin's dollars which do not accept for payment. The rapper is decided to exchange currency at the nearest exchanger, that will cause troubles. As the former exchanger belongs to the Armenian (Tigran Keosayan), Timati sets out in search of another, but runs against a nazi skinhead gang. Saving his own life, the hero hides in Konstantin's flat, where Ostap Bender-like swindler Dani (Deni Dadaev) in waiting him. Meanwhile, his friends cannot wait anymore and Artur is sent off. Before he can exchange, he is allured by the film director (Fyodor Bondarchuk) and prepares for shooting, but misses the actor-bus and leaves with gastarbeiters to demolish the Rossiya Hotel. Konstantin hands over his last dollars to Aleksei, but he also fails and falls in love with a young traffic victim Nastya (Agniya Ditkovskite). After all that, despaired Konstantin raises noise in the restaurant, as a result he gets jailed by the militsiya. Luckily for him, the mates do not abandon a friend and rescue him from captivity.

We Don't Live Here Anymore (2004)

The movie is set in the Pacific Northwest; specifically, Washington state. We know this from a glimpse of a license plate, the craftsman architecture of the two houses, and the mature, rich landscapes in between. The setting, like the scrutiny of the four main character's lives, is defined by the narrowness of the camera's field-of view. The one commercial street in town is only seen in the reflection of a store window, a shot of a non-descript auto-yard, or the tunnel of a tree-lined suburban sidewalk. The lush, wooded landscape is understood as an immediate presence in the domestic and professional lives of the characters; a steep hill, railroad tracks, a rushing stream, and a path over an old steel bridge are revisited again and again by the characters in their capacities as lovers, parents and friends.

India: Matri Bhumi (1959)

The film consists of four episodes through which Roberto Rossellini’s impressions and feelings about India and its society emerge. The film opens with the story of an elephant driver getting married. This is followed by a labourer who has worked on the Irakud damn for seven years and who wants to leave the village; then there is an old peasant who saves a tiger’s life; finally, there is the story of the monkey which finds itself alone in the desert after its owner’s death. Rossellini went to India in 1957 to direct a documentary mini-series (L’India vista da Rossellini) for the Italian and French televisions. He also wanted to make a feature film. The drafted script (written with Iranian scriptwriter Fereyoun Hoveyda) completely changed as soon as he started to work with the young Indian woman Sonali Senroy Das Gupta. The feature film was shot in parallel to the documentary mini-series, with the same team.
