The Sandwich Man / Er zi de da wan ou (1983)

Adapted from novelist Huang Chun-ming’s three short stories: The Taste of an Apple, The Sandwich Man, and Vicky's Hat, the omnibus film foregrounds several downbeat characters who fight and struggle for their lives in the developing country of Taiwan. The film depicts, sympathetically, their self-depreciation and self-respect, laugh and tears, and hope and despair.
