The film tells the plight of Alain Marecaux – "bailiff" of the case Outreau – arrested in 2001 and his wife and 12 others to horrible acts of pedophilia that they never committed. This is the story of the descent into hell of an innocent man facing a legal system incredibly unfair and inhumane, the story of his life and that of his relatives crushed by one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in our time.
