Before vegetables get from the fields to our plates, at least half of them end up in a dump; that means every second tomato or head of lettuce. Sounds incredible, but it's true. And agriculture produces a third of greenhouse gases. Just look at supermarket waste containers or peer into the nearest dustbin to see the huge amount of food we squander. In his film, director Valentin Thurn presents alarming facts about our relationship with food while also looking for ways to improve the situation. Examples include "dumpster divers," who save wasted food from supermarkets; an American anthropologist who established a community that hires a specific farmer to grow vegetables; and many others who try to halt food waste. If we cut waste in half, the impact on greenhouse gases would be similar to the results of every fourth car being removed from our roads.

Leslie's arch-rival, the mustached and black-attired Professor Fate vows to beat Leslie to the finish line in a car of Fate's own invention. The Blake Edwards style of slapstick and song originated with this movie. A dedication to Laurel and Hardy appears at the beginning of the film.
