The village of Kilcoulins Leap was once a thriving spa town, and was home to a famous Holy Well, but now offers little by way of employment for its people, and its decline seems inexorable. When local Postie, Podger Byrnes, comes up with a plan to hijack a consignment of Viagra, and sell it on the open market in Amsterdam, his friends are desperate enough to try it. The Japanese ambassaor is visiting Marseilles to view the city police's anti-gang tactics. During the visit, however, he is kidnapped by a group working for the Japanese yakuza. A woman named Shin-Ae and her only child move to the small town of Milyang, South Korea. Her husband has recently passed away and she has decided to start life anew back in the hometown of her deceased husband. While entering Milyang, Shin-Ae's car breaks down along a rural highway. She is able to get the local mechanic in Milyang, named Jong-chan, to come out to her car and start it once again. Although they come from different social backgrounds, the pair hits it off and seems to find comfort in each other's presence. Tragedy soon strikes Shin-Ae again with the abduction of her only son. As Shin-Ae deals with another inexplicable tragedy, she receives help from her friend Jong-chan to try to find the light that is buried somewhere.

A gang of thieves calling themselves the Santa Claus Gang are wreaking havoc, and the police can't keep up. King (Andy Lau from the first God Of Gamblers movie) is a professional gambler who ends up in prison after murdering a man, at the gambling table, in self defense. Behind him he leaves a pregnant wife that he's neglected almost totally in favour of the cards. 5 years later King is released and wants nothing but to reunite with his wife and the child he's never seen. He enlists small time hoodlum Dragon (Nick Cheung, who also appeared in the subsequent Conman-movies) to help him locate his wife while also teaching him a thing or two about the art of gambling. King himself does not really want to return to the tables but is forced into action when the close ones to him are put into jeopardy…
