Mathilde is a midwife who works at a small, friendly hospital in Carhaix, a town in the heart of Brittany. Her closest friends are Firmine, a nurse, and Louise, the owner of a bowling club. Catherine has been sent to oversee some reorganisations at the hospital that will result in the closure of the loss-making maternity ward. The four women decide to work together to save the threatened ward, united by their love of Brittany and bowling.
