The Looking Glass / Swan Song (2015)
Drama | Music
In the film, 13-year-old Julie (newcomer Grace Tarnow), devastated by the loss of her mother, reluctantly arrives in Indiana to stay with her grandmother, Karen (Dorothy Tristan, who also wrote the screenplay), a former star of stage and screen. Life in rural Indiana is not exactly what Julie had in mind, nor is Karen thrilled by spending her days with a sullen teen who buries her face in an iPad. After overhearing Julie singing one day, Karen persuades her to audition for a local play. Julie scores the coveted lead role, giving Karen – who is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's – one final chance to impart her legacy on her last surviving loved one.
