Tamiko used to be a very good ping pong player as a child, but she is now twenty-eight years old and left the sport behind. Her mother Hanako had taught her how to play imposing discipline and regimen, but following the former's death the daughter had felt free by quitting the sport and instead leading an ordinary life. One of her co-workers Akihiko asks her to go steady one day, but soon sleeps with a pretty co-worker called Airi. Having lost her chance with this man she quits her job and returns to her hometown. Here her mother once owned a ping pong club. At the same time, the man she lost has joined the company's ping pong club prompting her to want to beat him. She begins to practice again.

Ayumi Nitta suffers from anthropophobia (extreme shyness & fear of people). She works as a janitor at a hospital. One evening, she has an one night stand with surgeon Wataru Makino who is addicted to sex. Ayumi later realizes she is now pregnant because of that one night stand. When she tells Wataru that she is pregnant, Wataru believes she is a making a bad April Fools joke. Wataru Makino then takes flight attendant Reiko out to an Italian restaurant. He doesn't know that Ayumi Nitta is also going to the same restaurant.

Kazuhiko Kogure, who is a 2nd grade student in middle school, falls off from one of the school's rooftop. There were other male students on the roof when Kazuhiko Kogure fell off. According to the other students there, Kazuhiko Kogure tried to jump to another school building, but missed. Fortunately, Kazuhiko Kogure only fractured his leg and ribs. According to Kazuhiko Kogure's mother Hidemi, the school insists it was students playing around and did not involve bullying. Hidemi though, doesn't believe it, because Kazuhiko Kogure has a fear of heights. Hidemi goes to see attorney Machiko Mayuzumi (Yui Aragaki) and Machiko decides to take her case, but she asks for fellow attorney Kensuke Komikado's (Masato Sakai) help. Meanwhile, the school hires attorney Teshigahara Isao (Kinya Kitaoji).
