Oscar and Lucinda (1997)

In 19th-century England, Oscar is a youthful Anglican priest, a misfit, and an outcast, but he has the soul of an angel. As a child, even though part of a strict Pentecostal family, he felt God told him to leave his father and his faith and instead join the Church of England. Lucinda is a spirited Australian heiress determined to liberate her sex from the confines of the male-dominated culture of the Australia at the time. She purchases a glass factory and has a dream of building a church made almost entirely of glass and then transporting it to the Australian outback. Oscar and Lucinda meet on a ship bound for Australia; both are passionate gamblers, and Lucinda bets Oscar her entire inheritance he cannot transport the glass church to the remote bush safely. Oscar agrees to her wager, and this leads to events which change both of their lives forever.
