Silent Code / BBS xiang min de zheng yi (2012)
Drama
Silent Code is set in the world of BBS (Bulletin Board System), an online forum community platform that is very popular among Taiwan youth. Idol drama stars Chen Bo Lin (In Time with You), Ivy Chen (Skip Beat!), Shiou Jieh Kai (Black & White) and Puff Kuo (Miss Rose) headline this curious cautionary tale about online conflicts with real world consequences. Seamlessly blending live-action and CG animation into a cyber suspense inspired by true events, the film bridges the cyber world and BBS culture with real-world scenarios. Fittingly enough, Silent Code marks the feature debut of director Hero Lin Shi Yong, the creator of the Woodman animation series which is famous in Taiwan's online community. Righteous journalist Lan (Puff Kuo) is committed to reporting the truth and fighting for justice, but in reality, her job consists mainly of taking orders from her superiors and searching for news online. One day, she stumbles upon a popular BBS forum dedicated to sharing dreams. The board owner Xiang (Ivy Chen) incurred the wrath of the internet community after a video got leaked, and the witchhunt is pushing her to the edge. Lan sets out to find the culprit behind the leak, and clues seem to point to Xiang's hacker ex-boyfriend King (Chen Bo Lin). The more Lan investigates, the more people get dragged into the case and the murkier the truth becomes. Who is really behind this internet war?
